Ribe was the final stop of our journey – and what a finale. This city is absolutely beautiful. Ribe is considered Denmark’s oldest city, and you feel that history in every alleyway, on every facade. Cobblestone streets, lovingly restored half-timbered houses, and an atmosphere so wonderfully cosy that you’d happily never leave.

The Christmas market in Ribe was the perfect ending – in the very best sense. Cosy, genuine, without the usual hustle and bustle of larger markets. This was about real craftsmanship, good food and warm encounters, not the biggest mulled wine stand or the loudest music. You stroll, you taste, you stop and chat with people. This is how a Christmas market should be.

The absolute highlight was a Christmas concert in the church. The sound of the music reverberating through the old church, the flickering candles, the reverent silence between the pieces – it was deeply moving. You sat there and felt the journey slowly drawing to a close, and there could have been no better place for it.

Ribe showed us that sometimes you have to wait until the very last stop to find one of the most beautiful places of the entire journey. Thank you, Ribe. Thank you, Scandinavia. What a trip.
