NO25.14 Trondheim β Old Town, Bars and Ratzeputz
Trondheim is a city you fall for quickly. From the very first stroll through the old town, you sense that everything here is just right. The colourful warehouses along the Nidelva river, the narrow lanes, the historic buildings β Trondheim has a charm that catches you straight away. The city feels lively and cosy at the same time: big enough to keep things interesting, small enough to feel warm.
But the real highlight came in the evening. We wandered into a bar β as one does β and quickly got chatting with a group of locals. All accountants, as it turned out. They were celebrating the last βfreeβ night of a friend who was about to become a father: a proper send-off from his old life, full of laughter and plenty of stories.
And then things got interesting. Because this wonderfully welcoming group of Norwegians persuaded us to try Ratzeputz β a German ginger liqueur with quite a kick to it. That a group of Norwegian accountants would be the ones to introduce us to this particular drink was not something we had anticipated. It turned into a long, brilliant evening with people we hadnβt known before and wonβt forget afterwards. Trondheim, you were wonderful β and the headache the next morning confirmed it.
